Now like i promised, here we go. the first study. Now i have so much to post here but something inside me has been drawing me to my days in UNIBEN as Bible Study Coordinator. so I just thought to dig into the archives and bring out some of those teachings and pray that God would make it a blessing to you today.  REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS

The study is geared towards a call to self examinations as well as repenting from our acts that lead to the production of dead works. So we can work unto perfection (Heb 6:1, 10:14) for we being the abode of our God are called unto perfection (2Cor 6:16) Dead works are simply acts that lead to death. They are the product of the dead and things done by the dead. They are works that have no life and (the Word of God) in them. The question is who are the dead? Dead Simply put, death means separation. Thus separation from life could be physical death of the physical body. Now there are two categories of spiritual dead. They are those that are dead to God and those that are dead to the World. Those that are dead to God are those without Christ, because Christ is Life. (John 14:6, 1:41). Those that are dead to the world are those that are irresponsible to the world they are dead except in Jesus. (Gal2:20). Thus they are deemed to be able to do nothing except in Jesus. Anything that they do outside Jesus is therefore dead and dead works 2Cor 5:14-15). Those works are dead because they are bereft of the word of Christ (John 6:63). Living works are those that are done because of God’s word. Therefore, apart from the common sin which is the very dead, whatever a Christian does outside Jesus or His will is dead. These include mendacity, acts or services that are not premised upon the God and His word and will but self aggrandizement, pride. Eye service, unholy gifts, works of indiscipline, etc. EFFECTS OF DEAD WORKS Dead works decreases our productivity for God. This is because we use the time and resources with which we would make living works for dead ones. Soon we may no longer have a living work to show. This is dangerous for we would be exposed to danger of being cut off from Jesus and thrown into hell. (John 15:2, Matt 3:10). SOLUTION The only solution is repentance and decision to leave them. Let light come into you fully and walk in it. Eph. 5:8) The light is the word (John 1:1-4). It reveals every work of death. (Eph 5:13) Have no fellowship in unfruitful works of darkness. (Eph 5:11) Decide to be for God always: you can do it for you are not subject to sin and it woks. ( Rom 6:14, Gal 5:24) Conscousely determine to do good and living works. Do only those things that are certified as the will of God. (Rm 12:2) Do everything in Jesus’ name CONCLUSSION There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who work not after the flesh but he Spirit for the Law of the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ has made me free from the law of sin and death. We are to pattern ourselves according to God’s word which gives life, looking into the perfect law that gives freedom and produces works of life. The word is the mirror, and for we all with open faces beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image from glory to glory. (Jas1:22-25, 2Cor 3:13) Come out form the fruitless works of darkness and pattern yourself in God’s word that produces life (Gal 5:19-21, 16, Acts 20:32, Col 3:16, Gal 6:7-9)
